Mumbai: After students of a gurukul school in UP’s Shahjahanpur district, who had sent their savings to support Rajpal Yadav during his time in jail, expressed disappointment, the actor said that he has not been able to spend time even with his own family.
The actor assured the students he will surely meet them and click photographs for their love and support.
Speaking to PTI over phone, Rajpal said he is gathering details about those who had extended help to him when was in jail.
“As far as meeting the children is concerned, I was told they were from an orphanage. In my view, if children have an ashram, they are not orphans,” he said.
When he was informed the children were from a gur
ukul school, the actor said, “I am a person who believes in the guru tradition, and all those children are my own. I will definitely meet them, hug them and take photographs with them.”
According to school authorities, around 40 students of Gurukul Seva Trust filled a piggy bank with their savings, and sent it to the actor’s ancestral village address in Kundra by post on February 21.
Along with the money, the students enclosed an emotional letter expressing their desire to meet the actor after his release from jail.
However, when they didn’t get any response from the actor, they shared a video expressing their disappointment.
In a 29-second video, the students are heard saying, “Namaste Rajpal bhaiya, we have learnt that you have returned home after being released from jail. Congratulations to you. We all want to meet you and know whether you received the help we sent. If you did, why did you not respond to our letter? We are upset with you.”
Rajpal had surrendered before the authorities after he failed to repay a loan which he had taken for his film ‘Ata Pata Lapata’ in 2010.
