Rayagada: Senior BJD leader and Rajya Sabha member N Bhaskar Rao had to pay the fine for violating the traffic rules.
Talking to mediapersons on Sunday, Rao said he had participated in a rally driving a scooter to the Banshikrishna Mandap in Rayagada town. The rally was taken out to a function organised on the occasion of the 24th foundation of the BJD.
As he was driving his scooter without wearing a helmet, police handed him a challan with a fine of Rs 500 for violating the traffic rules. “As the rules are for all, I paid the fine to the police without hesitation,” he added.
Apart from Rao, police also collected fine from seven party workers for not wearing the helmet.
