Bhubaneswar: A total of 1.24 crore women beneficiaries will receive the 3rd instalment of Rs 5,000 under Subhadra Yojana as a Raksha Bandhan gift on August 9, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida informed on Sunday.
“The Chief Minister will distribute the third instalment money at a public event in Jeypore, Koraput. The government is determined to ensure that the benefit reaches every home in Kotia. I will personally visit Kotia and review Subhadra Yojana enrollment. All Odias in Kotia will be covered,” she told reporters.
Pravati further stated that complaints of 1.88 lakh women, who have been left out of the scheme because of land holdings or for paying income tax, are being reviewed. “They will be covered in a phased manner. Those found eligible before August 9 will be included in the next rollout. Others who tick the eligibility criteria thereafter, will receive a lump sum amount on March 8 next year,” she said.
She clarified that women filing zero income tax returns and earning less than Rs 2.5 lakh are eligible under the fund-transfer scheme.
Launched on September 17, 2024, after the BJP-led government came to power, the Subhadra Yojana initially credited Rs 5,000 to the bank accounts of 25 lakh women in its first phase. The second phase covered 39 lakh women, followed by the third phase on November 24, which reached 20 lakh beneficiaries. In the fourth phase, disbursed on February 8, 2025, another 18 lakh women received financial assistance, while the number touched 1.7 lakh during the fifth phase on March 6, 2025.
The second instalment money was disbursed on March 8, 2025.
The scheme aims to empower the low-income women and make them financially independent and self-reliant. The state government will spend over Rs 55,825 crore on the scheme in five years.
