Ram Charan Faces Backlash After Calling ‘Peddi’ One Of His Top Two Films

Hyderabad: Actor Ram Charan has sparked a debate among fans after declaring that his latest release ‘Peddi’ ranks among the top two movies of his career.

Fans have argued that Ram’s statement downplays the impact of blockbuster hits like ‘RRR’ and ‘Magadheera’, both of which were directed by S. S. Rajamouli.

Despite facing criticism over the portrayal of its female lead, ‘Peddi’ earnings have crossed Rs 300 crore worldwide in five days since its release.

On Monday, the makers held a thank-you event in Hyderabad to celebrate the film’s success.

Speaking at the event, Ram said: “I chose a calm theatre in our city, but the reaction from the audience for scenes has made my day. I am getting claps for certain scenes which I didn’t expect. In fact, this film will be placed first or second in my film library.”

It did not go down well with several fans, who felt it was an insult to Rajamouli and Sukumar, with whom he delivered blockbusters such as ‘Magadheera’, ‘RRR’ and ‘Rangasthalam’.

“If Peddi is better than Rangasthalam, Magadheera, RRR then it’s an insult to SSR and Sukumar,” wrote one fan.

Another commented, “Peak of shamelessness.”

“Biggest disrespect to Magadheera, Rangasthalam and RRR,” agreed another user, while one netizen felt it was insult to Rajamouli.

“If Peddi is number one, then what about RRR, Rangasthalam, and Magadheera? Is this guy out of his mind?”

Another wrote, “I think he forgot he did RRR, Rangasthalam and Magadheera.”

Helmed by Buchi Babu Sana, ‘Peddi’ also stars Janhvi Kapoor, Jagapathi Babu, Shivarajkumar, Boman Irani and Divyenndu in key roles.
