Bhubaneswar: A girl student of Rama Devi Higher Secondary School, erstwhile Rama Devi Junior College, in Bhubaneswar has reportedly brought allegation of ragging against some seniors staying in the hostel.
The Plus II first year student, who first approached the college authorities, subsequently sent her complaint to the School and Mass Education department, which initiated a probe, sources said.
In a letter to the department, the girl student alleged that she was subjected to ragging and mental torture by some inmates of the ladies’ hostel.
Following her written complaint, the SME department directed the Director of Higher Secondary Education to inquire into the allegation and submit a factual report at the earliest, they said.
The girl alleged that her roommates hurled caste slur at her, forced her to watch vulgar videos and harass her.
The college authorities were not immediately available for comment on the matter.
