Rama Devi Students Stage Demo Over Autonomous Status

Bhubaneswar: Hundreds of R D Women’s University students staged a demonstration on the varsity campus demanding retention of autonomous status for its Plus II and Plus III colleges.
The students blocked the main gate of the university and road in front of the campus by burning tyres.
Following the blockade, several vehicles were left stranded on the road connecting Vani Vihar and Master Canteen Square for a couple of hours.
Receiving information regarding the incident, police reached the spot to pacify the agitating students. However, the agitators scuffled with the cops who attempted to disperse them.
The blockade was lifted after the police personnel assured the students that their demands will be brought to the notice of the officials of higher education department.
