Mumbai: Ranbir Kapoor started dating Alia Bhatt sometime in 2017, when the duo began shooting for ‘Brahmastra’.
As Ayan Mukherjee’s film took a long time in making, Ranbir and Alia’s love blossomed, but the director was a worried man.
Ayan, in fact, asked the couple not to step out together as he felt they were ‘ruining’ his film.
The director explained why he felt like that.
“To be honest when we started our film, I thought this is the best casting — Ranbir and Alia, powerhouses. It was just too good,” Ayan remarked during the poster launch of Brahmastra.
“Then Ranbir and Alia became very good friends, then very very very good friends in life, then more than friends. So then I didn’t want the whole world to see them for these 4 years. I didn’t want anyone to see them till my film had come out. So, lots of things haven’t happened in their lives because every time they went out together, I would be sitting at the back saying ‘you all are ruining my film. Please don’t go anywhere.’ It feels good now that we can share them,” revealed Ayan.
Brahmastra, the first part of a trilogy, is inspired by Indian mythology and tells the tale of Shiva’s (Ranbir) journey of discovering the great power within.
The much-delayed film will release next year.
