Kolkata: The grapevine had it that Ranbir Kapoor would be playing the role of Sourav Ganguly in the biopic on the former Team India captain.
With the Bollywood star currently in Kolkata to promote his upcoming film ‘Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar’, many felt that the Sourav biopic will be confirmed.
But instead, said he has been working on Kishore Kumar’s biopic for several years.
Asked about a possible role in the Sourav biopic at an event on Sunday, Ranbir said he had not been offered a role.
“I think Dada (Sourav Ganguly) is a living legend not just in India, around the world. A biopic on him will be very special. Unfortunately, mujhe yeh film offer nahi huyi hai (I have not been offered this film). I think the makers of Luv films are still writing the script,” Ranbir said.
On being a part of the biopic on legendary singer Kishore, Ranbir said: “Main 11 saal se Kishore Kumar ke biopic pe kaam kar raha hoon (I have been working on Kishore Kumar’s biopic for 11 years). We have been writing that with Anurag Basu and I’m hoping that it’s gonna be my next biopic. But maine abhi tak dada k upar jo biopic banrahi hai uske baare mein kuch suna nahi hai (But I haven’t heard anything about the biopic being made on Dada so far).”
Ranbir and Sourav played cricket at the iconic Eden Gardens today.
Ranbir sported a black T-shirt on which ‘Ranbir’s Makkar XI’ was printed, while Sourav’s white T-shirt had ‘Dada’s Jhooti XI’ written on it.
