Bhubaneswar: The late order flourished on the second day to help Odisha post an impressive first-innings total of 457 in their Ranji Trophy opener against Baroda at Vikas Cricket Ground.
Baroda openers got off to a solid start, reaching 77 without loss at stumps on Wednesday.
Resuming on Day 2 at 214/5, Odisha were reduced to 285/8 after Abhishek Raut was dismissed for 70. But Debabrata Pradhan and Subham Nayak thwarted the Baroda bowlers by stitching together a 161-run partnership for the ninth wicket.
Debabrata top-scored with 89, which included 6 fours and sixes, while Subham made 82 with 12 boundaries.
On Day 1, opener Shantanu Mishra (61) and skipper Subhranshu Senapati (52) provided Odisha a good foundation after Odisha were asked to bat first.
Brief scores: Odisha 457 all out (Debabrata Pradhan 89, Subham Nayak 82, Abhishek Raut 70, Shantanu Mishra 61, Subhranshu Senapati 52). Baroda 77 for no loss.
