Cuttack: A fine century by Debasish Samantray put Odisha in command against Jharkhand on the second day of their Ranji Trophy Group C match at Barabati Stadium here on Thursday.
At end of Day 2, Jharkhand were 71 for 2 with Kumar Suraj and Utkarsh Singh at the crease on 42 and 10, respectively.
Earlier, Odisha resumed their overnight score of 205 for 4. Debasish and Biplab Samantray put up a century partnership to take their team to 292 before Biplab got out at 74. However, Debasish went on to score his first century (156) this season with useful partnerships with Rajesh Dhuper (20), Ankit Yadav (12), Debabrata Pradhan (26) and Suryakant Pradhan (12).
For Jharkhand, Ashish Kumar was the pick of the bowler claiming 6 for 79.
Jharkhand were in trouble in their first innings after losing two quick wickets for 54. However, Kumar and Utkarsh managed to hang on at the wicket till the draw of stumps.
For Odisha, Basant Mohanty and Suryakant Pradhan bagged one wicket each.
