Ranchi: The fine unbeaten century by Subhransu Senapati went in vain as Odisha lost to Jharkhand by only two runs in a humdinger on the fourth and final day of the four-day Ranji Trophy match at the at the JSCA International Stadium Complex at Ranchi on Sunday.
Resuming their overnight score at 81 for 3, Odisha began their innings disastrously as wickets fell at regular intervals after the departure of captain Biplab Senapati for 23. None of the remaining six batsmen could reach the double figure. Though Subhransu batted resolutely from one end, no batsmen could stay with him for long as the visitors were bundled out for 257 just two runs away from what could have been a thrilling win.
For Jharkhand, Anukul Ray was the pick of the bowler claiming four wickets while Rahul Shukla and Varun Aaron bagged two wickets each.
Subhranshu was adjudged man of the match for his patient and flawless unbeaten 157.
With this win, Jharkhand got 6 points while Odisha drew a blank.
