Cuttack: Resolute batting by Subhransu Senapati and Abhishek Rout helped Odisha post a thrilling victory over Tripura by five wickets on the fourth and final day of the Ranji Trophy Elite Group-C match at the DRIEMS ground here on Saturday.
After restricting Tripura to 304 all out in their second innings, the hosts needing 215 for an outright win, had begun their second innings disastrously losing five top-order batsmen for 79 runs in quick succession. However, Senapati and Rout batted sensibly and took the score to 111 at the draw of stumps.
Resuming their overnight second innings score at 111 for 5 on Saturday, the two batsmen batted resolutely and ensured a thrilling win over the visitors with an unbeaten 138-run partnership. While Senapati remained not out on 84, his partner Rout scored 83.
Senapati was adjudged the Man-of-the-Match for his patient and flawless batting.
With this win, Odisha has won two out of four matches in the Group-C and jumped to the fourth place with 13 points.
