New Delhi: Odisha batters reserved their best for the last as they enjoyed a great opening day in their final Ranji Trophy Elite Group D match against Delhi at Jamia Millia cricket ground here on Friday.
Senior batters Subhranshu Senapati (109 batting) and skipper Shantanu Mishra (76) led the charge to help Odisha reach 314/4 at stumps.
Opting to bat first, Shantanu and young Swastik Samal (38) provided Odisha a fine start, adding 58 runs in 12.4 overs.
Sandeep Pattanaik fell for 12, the lowest scorer of the day.
Shantanu and Subhranshu added 70 for the third wicket, followed by a 68-run collaboration between Subhranshu and Govinda Poddar (27).
Biplab Samantaray (40 batting) joined Subhranshu after Poddar’s dismissal, and the two have put on 81 priceless runs for the undefeated fifth wicket.
