Mumbai: Ranveer Singh’s exit from Farhan Akhtar’s much-anticipated Don 3 continues to make waves, with a new report shedding light on the events that unfolded behind the scenes following the fallout between the actor and Excel Entertainment.
According to a Bollywood Hungama report, two closed-door meetings were held involving some of the most influential names in the Hindi film industry to discuss the situation.
The discussions reportedly focused not only on Ranveer’s exit but also on the larger issue of a filmmaker’s options after investing heavily in pre-production when a principal actor walks out of a project.
A source quoted by the publication said, “From the outset, it was made clear that the intent was not to single out or blame any individual. The discussion revolved around a broader industry concern—what recourse producers have when a film collapses at an advanced stage. The issue was also examined from the actor’s point of view, along with possible safeguards for the future.”
While the first meeting reportedly involved senior producers discussing the broader implications for filmmakers, the second meeting—attended by Aamir Khan, Siddharth Roy Kapur, Ramesh Taurani, and Kumar Taurani—focused on Ranveer Singh’s position in the matter.
The source claimed that Ranveer accused Excel Entertainment of being “unprofessional” and not serious about taking Don 3 on floors. “Ranveer stated that Farhan Akhtar never had a bound script in place and that he prefers to commit to projects only when the material is fully developed,” the source said.
The actor allegedly also expressed dissatisfaction with Farhan Akhtar’s unwillingness to incorporate feedback or rework certain subplots.
Additionally, the report claims that Ranveer felt sidelined after learning that Excel Entertainment had explored the possibility of casting Hrithik Roshan in the film and only re-approached him after the success of Dhurandhar to capitalise on his momentum.
Meanwhile, weeks after Ranveer’s exit, reports suggested that Farhan Akhtar has decided to put Don 3 on hold. As per a Pinkvilla report, Akhtar does not wish to rush the casting process and is instead focusing on Jee Le Zaraa, starring Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt, and Katrina Kaif.
Neither Ranveer Singh nor Excel Entertainment has officially responded to these claims.
