Mumbai: Despite roadblocks and critical reviews, Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar’ has crossed the Rs 500-crore mark at the global box office, and counting.
Amid mixed reviews, the spy-thriller, inspired by real-life events, has sparked a meme fest on Indian spies.
Memes captioned ‘Day 1 as a spy in Pakistan’ show social media influencers pretending to be Indian spies (inspired by Dhurandhar) in Pakistan, who get exposed because of their habits.
In one of the memes, influencer Saloni Gaur is seen handing over some documents to a Pakistani, and gets exposed when she reacts as the papers fall down.
In another video, influencer Kishore shows a spy dancing to Flipperachi’s Bahrani song FA9LA, but gets exposed when he gives in to the superstition of not waking up on his left side.
An influencer on a page named Funcho, run by Dhruv and Shyam, shared a video of him greeting a Pakistani by touching his feet.
“Aadat se majboor (a slave of one’s habit),” joked creator Diljeet Varshney, who is exposed as an Indian spy after he says “Ab ki baar, Modi sarkaar (This time, Modi is going to win the elections).”
Reacting to the hilarious memes sparked by Dhurandhar, one user wrote, “Mean while mom is soo happy, ladka videsh janeke bad bhi sanskar nahi bhula. (Meanwhile, his mom is so happy because he hasn’t forgotten traditions even after doing abroad).”
“Finally a good meme, which is not cringe,” opined another.
“I love how both the nations find it funny,” expressed one person, while another commented, “Assalam pranam.”
“Spy training from online classes be like..” joked one user, while another netizen wrote, “Spy agent name – tulsi das khan.”
Written, directed and co-produced by Aditya Dhar, the film stars Ranveer, Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi.
