Bhubaneswar: Voicing concern over the alleged rape of a woman at gunpoint in Bhubaneswar, the Odisha State Commission for Women (OSCW) has sought a detailed report from the city police on the incident.
Sources said the Commission has asked the Bhubaneswar Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) to submit a report within 15 days.
The move comes in the wake of allegation that a young woman was raped at gunpoint inside her rented house located in Nayapalli area of the Capital City two days ago0. The accused remains untraced so far.
Following the incident, police launched an investigation and are examining CCTV footage from the area as part of efforts to identify, trace and apprehend the perpetrator.
Police personnel are conducting raids at different locations across Bhubaneswar in an effort to identify and locate the person allegedly involved in the incident.
The women’s commission has taken note of the case and sought details from the police regarding the probe.
The incident has raised concern among authorities, with the investigation continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the allegation and identify the accused.
According to the complaint lodged by the survivor, she was inside the rented accommodation when the unidentified accused allegedly barged in and threatened her by showing what was reportedly a gun or toy gun.
The young woman lives in a rented house with her elder sister, and the house owner resides on the first floor. Following the complaint, Nayapalli police registered a case and began an investigation into the incident.
