Rape Attempt In Quarantine Centre In Odisha’s Balasore District

Balasore: A man attempting to rape a girl at a panchayat quarantine centre in the district was nabbed and beaten up by the inmates on Tuesday.

According to sources, the man, identified as Ratnakar Jena of Gohira village in the district, entered the quarantine centre at Telipal Asram School under Nilagiri block apparently with the help of the security guard in the morning.

While the young girl was inside the bathroom, Ratnakar tried to outrage her modesty. As the girl screamed, some inmates of the centre rushed to the spot and rescued her besides catching hold of Ratnakar.

They tied him to a tree and beat him up. Meanwhile, the centre’s security guard Pratap Barik fled.

The victim has lodged a complaint at Bramhapur police station in this regard.
