Mumbai: A rape case has been filed against Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Kashyap on the basis of a complaint lodged by actress Payal Ghosh with the Mumbai police on Tuesday.
According to a PTI report, Mumbai police has already recorded Payal’s statement. She has accused the filmmaker of raping her at a place on Yari Road in Versova in 2013.
“Finally FIR has been lodged against accused for the offence rape, wrongful restraint, wrongful confinement and outraging modesty of woman,” tweeted Payal’s lawyer Nitin Satpute.
A police official told PTI that the filmmaker will be soon called for interrogation in the case.
Payal took to her Twitter handle on Saturday and alleged that Anurag Kashyap had forced himself on her when she met him regarding work.
However, the filmmaker rubbished the reports and issued a statement through his laywer Priyanka Khimani stating that the allegations against him are “false, malicious and dishonest”.
