Phulbani: A prisoner escaped from Baliguda Sub-Jail in Odisha’s Kandhamal district by cutting the grill of a window last night.
The prisoner, identified as Tukuna Mali, has been convicted in a rape and murder case. He is a resident of Kumbharigaon under Brahmanigaon police limits in the district sources said.
The jail authorities came to know about the incident when Tukuna did not respond to the attendance call this morning. Baliguda police have reached the spot and launched a probe to trace his whereabouts, the sources added.
