Vellore: A 44-year-old man in Tamil Nadu’s Vellore district sexually assaulted his 13-year-old daughter repeatedly for 10 months and impregnated her. He has been arrested.
The girl gave birth to a baby boy on Tuesday, August 2. The medical team informed the child welfare committee about the incident, who filed a complaint with the Vellore all-women police, India Today reported.
The shocking incident was discovered when the girl, a Class VIII student studying in a government school, complained of stomach pain. When she was taken to the Government Vellore Medical College by her relatives, the doctor who diagnosed her informed them that she was pregnant.
According to a report by The Times of India, the girl’s parents were separated. She and her brother lived with her grandparents. The girl visited her father every day to provide him with food cooked by her grandmother.
During the investigation, the girl revealed that her father would sexually assault her whenever she visited to offer him food. She further said that her father had threatened her with dire consequences if she told anyone about it.
Based on this, police arrested the man and produced him before a judicial magistrate. He was remanded to police custody. He was arrested by the Vellore all-women police and booked under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and a section of the Indian Penal Code.
