Bhubaneswar: There is a good news for bird lovers in Odisha. The rare species of ‘Falcated Duck’ has been spotted for the first time at Mangalajodi Bird Sanctuary in Khurda district.
A trustee of Mangalajodi Conservation and Tourism Trust,Madhu Behera, spotted the winged guest on Wednesday and clicked some photographs.
The scientific name of this bird is Anas falcata. These birds are generally seen in Siberia, Mongolia, China and Japan.
In February 2015, this bird was spotted at Samal barrage in Odisha’s Talcher.
This year, many new birds have migrated to Mangalajodi.
Recently, another rare species of bird ‘Mallard’ was spotted for the first time at Mangalajodi Bird Sanctuary.

Mangalajodi is located at the northern edge of Chilika lake in Khurda district.
