According to sources in MKCG, the 45-year-old man of Balipadar under Buguda block of Ganjam district had gone to Surat of Gujarat and was working there. Around 10 days back, while he was having drinks with his friends, they inserted the steel glass in his anus in intoxicated condition.
Though the man started feeling pain from next day, he did not reveal the incident to anybody. As the pain became unbearable, he left Surat and came back to his village. His stomach started swelling as he could not defecate and finally, he went to MKCG hospital to consult the doctors.
During consultation, he revealed the incident to the doctors. After finding the glass stuck in the intestine in X-Ray report, the doctors tried to retrieve the glass through rectum. After failing in their efforts, they advised him to go for surgery.
On the advice of Prof Charan Panda, head of Surgery department of the hospital, a team of doctors comprising assistant professor Sanjit Kumar Nayak, Dr Subrat Baral, Dr Satyaswarup and Dr Pratibha performed the surgery.
They cut through the intestine and retrieved the steel glass. The man was recovering after the surgery and his condition was stable, the hospital sources said.
