Rare Surgery Performed in Bhubaneswar Apollo Hospitals

Bhubaneswar: The surgeons of Apollo Hospitals, Bhubaneswar successfully performed a rare surgery in the medical history of the State.

Dr GSS Mohapatra, Senior O&G consultant of the hospital said a 19-year-old girl was admitted with acute pain in the abdomen. After studying her case history, the doctors advised her for pathological and other tests.

The tests report revealed that she had double cervix, uterus and vagina. After a detailed study, it was found that the left part was open while the right side was blocked causing pain to the patient.

She was slated for a concomitant laparoscopy with hysteroscopy. During the surgery, a tract was created and the opening from the right side was made continuous. Her postoperative period was uneventful and she recovered well, said Dr. Mohapatra.
