Paradip: A total of 17 rare Telia fish caught by fishermen from the sea near Paradip in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district reportedly fetched them Rs 25 lakh.
As per reports, some fishermen from Paradip had caught 17 of these rare telia fish, weighing over three quintals, from deep sea.
The fishermen had ventured to the sea on Sunday night and these rare fish fell in the fishing net. Later the fish catch was found to be more than three quintals.
The fishermen later took it to the auction area and these 17 fish were auctioned at a whooping price of Rs. 25 lakh, sources said. A private firm reportedly bought these fish for Rs 25 lakh.
The intestines of the rare Telia fish is sold at high prices as it is used in manufacture of certain drugs. Telia fish also contains a lot of maw, from which drugs are made which can also be sold abroad, according to reports.
