Singer, composer and social media star Darshan Raval will perform in Balasore on Tuesday. He emerged as the First Runner-Up in the reality show Indian Raw Star. He sang the promo for the show ‘Pehli Mohabbat’, which was his own composition and believes this opportunity to be the turning point in his career.
The multi-faceted artiste shared his achievements and future plans with Odisha Bytes.
Darshan loves the melody of the state song “Bande Utkala Janani” and even hummed a couple of lines for us. He has sung in multiple languages including Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi, Hindi and Telugu and looks forward to a stint in Odia as well.
He developed a liking for music at a very early age and considers his late mother to be his biggest inspiration and mentor.
Darshan has also hosted a radio show for independent artists as RJ in the past. He loves photography and travel and would have chosen either of them as a career had music not lured him. “Travelling is the best option for ‘Me Time’, that is how I unwind,” said the artiste.
The youth in Odisha should explore the plethora of digital platforms and pursue their dreams… “Just do it with all your heart and honesty and people will love it” he said.
His future plans include making independent music and doing playback for Bollywood. He loves to act in his own music videos, where he can connect to each and every beat. He recently launched the audio of ‘Tu Mileya’ and his song ‘Hawa Banke’ has almost reached the landmark of 10 million views.
Darshan wants to keep making good songs, which resonate with people and this reflects his immense passion for music.
“But for my fans, I wouldn’t be here,” he said with humility.
