Kolkata: Rashid Khan’s splendid performance with both bat and ball steered Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) into the IPL finals after the team defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 13 runs here on Friday.
Batting first, Rashid scored an unbeaten 34 runs off just 10 deliveries to help SRH post a challenging total of 174 for seven. His bowling spell was equally impressive with the figures of 3/19. The player from Afghanistan took two important wickets to help his team win the match and enter the final.
Rashid’s performance was praised by Sachin Tendulkar who took to Twitter and said, “Always felt @rashidkhan_19 was a good spinner but now I wouldn’t hesitate in saying he is the best spinner in the world in this format. Mind you, he’s got some batting skills as well. Great guy.”
While chasing, KKR were off to a scintillating start, scoring 40 runs in just 3.2 overs, before wickets started tumbling in quick succession.
SRH will now face Chennai Super Kings in the final in Mumbai on Sunday.
