Mumbai: As actors Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda prepare to tie the knot in an intimate ceremony in Udaipur on February 26, a remark by her ex-fiancé Rakshit Shetty’s close friend Pramod Shetty drew criticism online.
During a recent interaction with media, Pramod, who has worked with Rashmika in ‘Kirik Party’, was asked whether he received an invitation for the high-profile wedding.
Pramod laughed and said, “I haven’t received Rashmika’s wedding invitation yet. If I get it, I’ll go. We know she won’t invite us, nothing new. As for Rakshit Shetty, he’s not a kid eating chocolate and sitting around feeling guilty about it.”
Pramod’s remark quickly went viral, drawing sharp reactions from Rashmika’s fans.
One fan commented, “Sorry, boomer uncle. How many more years will you seek publicity using her name?”
Another reasoned, “Who’ll invite their ex-boyfriend, fiancée and his friends to their wedding after breaking up.”
One fan even hit out at Pramod: “You all including public have harassed her. Why she will invite those who harass or abuse or shame her?”
Criticising Pramod, one user wrote, “Rashmika was barely an adult marrying someone who was almost a decade older than her when she was just starting out in the industry, idk how people never found this problematic?? it has been YEARS and these people still can’t move on, while she’s becoming more and more successful.”
Another person wrote, “What cheap man.”
“Rashmika stays rent free in kannada industries losers head,” joked one fan.
An X user wrote, “Not a fan of Rashmika but she’ll always remain iconic for growing taller stronger outta this hate.”

Rashmika had got engaged to Rakshit in July 2017 when she was just 21 and he was 34.
However, the two called off their engagement in September 2018, citing compatibility issues.
Following the split, Rashmika faced intense trolling, prompting her to issue a public statement about the abuse.
In October last year, Rashmika and Vijay got engaged in an intimate ceremony in Hyderabad and are now set to get married.
