Jagatsinghpur: The President’s Secretariat has stepped into the issue and directed the Odisha government to take necessary action after complaints that caste certificates have not been issued to tribals in Jagatsinghpur district’s Odisso village for a year now.
RK Sharma, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at Rashtrapati Bhawan, directed Odisha’s Chief Secretary Suresh Mahapatra to take necessary action. The direction came after a petition was filed by Scheduled Caste leader Sankar Das in January this year, seeking the President’s intervention.
Das alleged that nearly 300 tribals belonging to Matya community in Odisso village had not been issued caste certificates for the last year.
