Bhubaneswar: The Snake Helpline members rescued a snake from the office chamber of a senior bureaucrat at Lok Seva Bhawan on Saturday evening.
The incident occurred when additional secretary, Home, BB Mishra was entering his chamber and inadvertently put his feet on a snake. After spotting the reptile under his chair, he and some department staff immediately ran out of the chamber and informed the Snake Helpline.
General secretary of Snake Helpline and honourary wildlife warden of Khurda district, Subhendu Mallick arrived at the Lok Seva Bhawan with his colleagues and rescued a three-foot-long rat snake behind an almirah inside the chamber.
The non-poisonous snake was later released in the wild.
