Puri: While the East Coast Railway (ECoR) will run 26 pairs of special trains for the ensuing Rath Yatra in Puri, it has decided to restrict train services towards the pilgrim town to break the chain of COVID-19 transmission.
According to an ECoR notification on Saturday, 26 long-distance trains will run up to Khurda Road and originate from Khurda Road. However, services will remain cancelled in the stretch between Khurda Road and Puri from both directions.
The notification said 21 pairs of special trains will originate from/terminate at Khurda Road instead of Puri till the third week of July.
Besides, five pairs of weekly special trains will originate from/terminate at Khurda Road instead of Puri on specific days while the special trains including five pairs daily and 16 pairs of bi-weekly, tri-weekly and 4 days in a week.
