Puri: The Green Corridor created in Puri for Rath Yatra came to the rescue of nearly 160 people who needed medical attention on Friday.
Thanks to the Green Corridor, these devotees could be taken by ambulances to the district headquarters hospital through the sea of people on Bada Danda.
The devotees who required medical attention mostly suffered from suffocation, dehydration and minor injuries. According to reports, all were discharged after being given medical attention.
As part of the Green Corridor, volunteers, police personnel, stretchers, ambulances, doctors and paramedics were stationed on Bada Danda.
“We had eight ambulances facing the Jagannath temple, all queued up on one side of the Bada Danda,” Puri Chief District Medical Officer Dr Sujata Mishra said.
“There was no casualties and around 160 people were provided medical attention on time,” she said.
