Nayagarh: The first lot of wood for construction of chariots for the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath in Puri was dispatched on Friday from Daspalla in Nayagarh district.
According to sources, 102 wooden logs including 71 pieces of Asan and 33 pieces of Dhaura wood collected from Cheyapalli and Pokharigocha in Daspalla Forest area, were dispatched in three trucks. A puja was conducted at the Mahaveer Temple in Daspalla before the dispatch.
Chariot construction for Rath Yatra begins from Akshay Trutiya and by Ram Navami, all the 865 logs required for the construction of the three chariots arrive in Puri.
