Bhubaneswar: Ration card holders in Odisha will be provided with wheat along with their requisite quota of rice with the state government initiating steps to revive the earlier practice.
Sharing this information on Saturday, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra said that the state government has written to the Centre to provide wheat for this purpose.
The state government has placed a demand for getting wheat against 20 per cent of the rice quota. The step was taken after considering the demand for wheat by the people in the state, Patra said
Notably, the previous state government had stopped the supply of wheat to the ration card holders after placing a demand for additional rice. The ration card holders are now being provided with only rice, sources said.
