Puri: Following allegations by sevayats that some stones were missing from the Ratna Simhasan at the Jagannath temple here, the shrine administration has ordered a probe into the matter.
The chief administrator of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), Krishan Kumar, told this to the media on Tuesday.
Kumar said senior sevayats, who are the members of the temple managing committee, will thoroughly inspect the sanctum sanctorum and submit a report. The temple administration will take appropriate action based on the report, he added.
The SJTA decision to order the probe came after a meeting of the Jagannath Temple Managing Committee.
On Tuesday, senior sevayat Ipsita Pratihari told the media that he had found some stones removed from the lotus-shaped Ratna Simhasan during his duty on Monday. Pratihari had demanded a clarification from the SJTA and urged the state government to initiate an investigation into the incident.
