Cuttack: Cuttack DCP Akhileshwar Singh on Friday suspended two traffic police personnel for dereliction of duty in connection with hit-and-run case involving a girl student of Ravenshaw University here.
The suspended traffic cops – a havildar and a constable – were found guilty of allowing the killer truck into the city during the restricted hours.
Notably, Annapurna Choudhary, a Plus III final year student of Economics department, was killed in front of the campus after being hit by a speeding truck while riding a Scooty back home to Choudwar after attending Teacher’s Day celebration at the varsity on Thursday.
Meanwhile, police have arrested the driver of the truck, which has also been seized.
Earlier in the day, a group of students had staged a dharna in front of the varsity demanding compensation for bereaved family and proper implementation of traffic rules.
