Bhubaneswar: The Executive Committee of Centenary Celebration Panel of Ravenshaw University’s East Hostel met to discuss modalities for centenary celebrations of the heritage hostel.
To be celebrated on December 24, the old students decided to make it a mega and memorable affair.
Sub-committees were formed and responsibilities entrusted to mentors and patrons, who were once residents of East Hostel. Details on the logistics, finances, publications including digital and social media and outreach programmes were also chalked out.
Inter-hostel sports, literary competitions, blood donation camps, plantation drives, torch and candlelight processions will be organised.
Future of the most vital ingredient of East Hostel Alumni Association “Sabuja Sahiyta Samiti’’ was also discussed and it was decided that it would be celebrated as “Sabuja Juga 2.0”.
From among the old inmates of the historic East Hostel Sashanka Sekhar Rout, Badrinarayan Mohanty, Subhranshu Mishra, Manoj Sahu, Bibhuti Bhusan Barik, Santosh Sethi, Ashish Das and executive secretary of EAA Pratap Mohanty, organising secretary Saoubhagya Swain, Sabuja Sahitya secretary Suraj Satapathy and member Punyashloka Choudhury and member East Hostel Board Management Committee Swastik Arya participated.
On October 1 meeting held under the chairmanship former chief secretary and president of East Hostel Alumni Association (EAA) Dr Sahadev Sahoo, in presence of Vice-Chancellor Ravenshaw University Prof Sanjay K Nayak, the December 24 date was finalised.
