Cuttack: Hundreds of students of Ravenshaw University staged a mass demonstration on the campus and gheraoed the vice chancellor’s office protesting against fee hike and other issues.
“We strongly oppose the exorbitant hike in fee from time to time and the arbitrary decision taken by the university authorities to vacate the hostels by May 28 for carrying out renovation work,” said one of the agitating students.
The students, who were staging the protest under the aegis of Ravenshaw Chhatra Kriyanusthan Committee, also demand immediate withdrawal of the university authorities’ move to introduce compulsory meals for hostel inmates and re-introduction of previous instant examination system for final-year students.
The protestors threatened to intensify the agitation, if the authorities concerned failed to meet their demands at the earliest.
