RBI-Bhubaneswar Promotes Financial Literacy Among People In Odisha’s Nayagarh

Bhubaneswar: People from different sections of society were sensitised about financial and banking transactions at a Field Level Financial Literacy Event (FLFLE) organised by Reserve Bank of India in Nayagarh.

Anita Patnaik, general manager, RBI, Bhubaneswar briefed about financial inclusion. Highlighting the need for financial literacy and awareness, she spoke on the steps taken by RBI in this regard.

Rabindra Nath Sahu, Nayagarh Collector informed about the steps taken by Odisha government for financial inclusion and emphasised the need for financial literacy.

Around 140 participants from various target groups including senior citizens, students, SHG women and general public attended the programme which was conducted with joint coordination by various departments of RBI like FIDD, Issue, DOS, IBD and CEPC.

The officials from RBI delivered their sessions on various financial products from banking, investment, insurance, pension, savings, income expenditure budgeting, digital payments, social security schemes of PMJJBY, PMSBY, APY, education loan and Vidya Lakshmi web portal, SHG loans availing loans only on need from formal financial institutions and repaying the loans in time.

The participants were also made aware about fake note detection, note exchange facilities by banks, coin as legal tenders and latest guidelines on Rs 2000 note exchange. Further, various types of cyber frauds including ponzi schemes and digital lending app frauds were discussed.

The participants were also advised to maintain secrecy of ATM PIN and not to share any bank account/ TM/Card related information over phone to anyone. They were informed about grievance redressal mechanism of RBI and procedure for lodging complaints.

Sanjay Kumar Jha, DGM, SBI; Lingaraj Nayak, AGM, SLBC and Basudev Routaray, General Manager, OGB were also present.
