Berhampur: To create mass awareness among the public, a ‘Walkathon’ on financial literacy and awareness was organised by the Bhubaneswar office of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) at Berhampur on Saturday.
The ‘Walkathon’ started from Tata Benz Square and ended at Jubilee Townhall. Regional Director (Odisha), Reserve Bank of India, Dr Sarada Prasan Mohanty, flagged off the walkathon.
Senior officials from all the banks along with more than 250 participants from different target groups like students, Self Help Groups (SHGs), entrepreneurs, farmers, and senior citizens participated in the event.
The ‘Walkathon’ was followed by a Field Level Financial Literacy Event (FLFLE) where sessions covering financial literacy, cyber security, digital banking, various types of frauds, exchange facility of soiled and mutilated notes, grievance redressal system in banks, Integrated Ombudsman Scheme of RBI etc. were taken by various officials of RBI.
Regional Director Mohanty; General Manager of RBI Bhubaneswar, Anita Patnaik; DGM, SBI, Sondeep Choubey; DGM, Union Bank of India, D Devraj; AGM, Union Bank of India, Satyabrat Samal; Lead District Officers from RBI, Santosh Mishra, Amit Kumar and Lead District Manager of Ganjam district, Kishor Chandra Naik were present in the event.
