Bargarh: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s announcement to accord district status to Padampur in Odisha’s Bargarh district moved a step ahead as the process for identification of the site for setting up collector’s office was started on Monday.
Suresh Chandra Dalai as Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) of Northern Division, Sambalpur visited Padampur visited different sites identified for setting up the collectorate on the day.
Bargarh ADM, deputy collector, tehsildar and revenue inspector accompanied the RDC during the visit and briefed him on the benefits of location of the identified sites.
Earlier, a high-level committee, headed by the RDC, was formed for selection of the site for the collector’s office. “The committee will submit its report on the sites for the proposed Padampur collectorate to the government. We have identified three plots measuring around five acre each. Of all the sites we visited today, three seem to be ideal ones for the office,” the RDC told mediapersons after the visit.
Addressing at a public meeting in Jharbandh during campaign for byelection to Padampur Assembly constituency on February 19, the chief minister had announced that necessary measures were being taken to accord district status Padampur sub-division within a year.
