Shaktikanta Das paying a courtesy call on Arun Jaitley on Sunday evening
New Delhi: Senior BJP leader and outgoing Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley’s health has been the subject of immense speculation, especially after he remained absent from Narendra Modi’s victory celebration and NDA’s meeting in Parliament.
Some media outlets had even begun to speculate the worse as Jaitley had stopped coming to the office for quite some time now.
This prompted principal DG of Press Information Bureau Sitanshu Kar to issue a statement on Sunday afternoon through his Twitter handle, cautioning media houses against spreading rumours.
“Reports in a section of media regarding Union Minister Arun Jaitley’s health condition are false and baseless. Media is advised to stay clear of rumour mongering,” he said.
But what really silenced all the loose talks about his health condition was a tweet from Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das. The RBI Governor tweeted a photo of him meeting Jaitley this evening with the message: “Had a courtesy meeting with Hon’ble Union Minister @arunjaitley this evening.
According to some reports, Jaitley has been advised by his family and friends to stay away from making public appearances to avoid contracting infection. He underwent a renal transplant a couple of years back and ever since had been maintaining a low profile.
