Bhubaneswar: Polie on Monday arrested a real estate developer for allegedly duping two people of Rs 12 lakh on the plea of providing them plots of land in Bhubaneswar.
According to police sources, one of the duped persons, Sourabh Acharya had approached the accused, Manoj Kumar Sahoo, for an apartment. Sahu had promised to allot a 2000 sq ft plot for Rs 43 lakh at Bajrasena Construction project in Shiv Shakti Nagar under Pahala police limits.
Acharya had given Rs 2 lakh towards advance for the plot in December last year. But Sahoo delayed in providing plot and even started avoiding Acharya.
Suspecting the intention of Sahoo, Acharya filed a complaint against him at Mancheswar police station. The police had registered a case and launched an investigation.
Meanwhile, another person filed a complaint against Acharya with similar allegation at Mancheswar police station. He accused Sahoo of cheating him after taking Rs 10 lakh.
The police apprehended Sahoo and detained him at the police station. During questioning, Sahoo confessed to have cheated the two complainants after taking money from them. The police have arrested Sahoo and launched further investigation.
