Bhubaneswar: Prominent builder and real estate developer Tapan Mohanty, who is ‘samundhi’ of Khandapada MLA Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, was interrogated by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Odisha police on Saturday.
Mohanty, owner of Z Engineers Construction Pvt Ltd, was questioned by the EOW sleuths after he visited their office following summons issued by the investigating agency, sources said.
The investigating agency conducted a marathon grilling in connection with alleged irregularities in some construction works in Z One Apartments in Raghunathpur area of Bhubaneswar. A team of EOW sleuths had also reportedly carried out raid at his office earlier in connection with the case. They had examined certain documents.
Mohanty was summoned by the EOW, Bhubaneswar wing on Saturday in connection with an allegation raised by the Apartment Welfare Association. Mohanty, who visited the EOW office along with his son, is yet to comment on the matter.
Based on the complaint lodged with the Infocity Police, sleuths of the EOW subsequently conducted investigation had quizzed Mohanty after carrying out the raid, the sources added.
The development comes close on the heels of removal of Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, samudhi of Mohanty, from the post of vice president of the ruling BJD following his critical writings and editorials on the whirlwind district visits of 5T secretary.
