New Delhi: India on Friday administered a record 90 lakh-plus COVID-19 vaccine doses, and counting.
The day was not yet over when Union Health minister Mansukh Mandaviya tweeted the encouraging news.
“Congratulations to the citizens as India today administers historic 90 lakh #COVID19 vaccines until now – and still counting!” Mandaviya tweeted around 7.30 in the evening.
An hour later, that figure had gone up to 93 lakh leading to the expectation that the 1 crore daily inoculation could be cracked for the first time since India rolled out the vaccination programme on January 16.
India’s previous one-day record was a little over 88 lakh does.
The cumulative vaccination coverage crossed the 62-crore doses mark on Friday.
