Bhubaneswar: The 22nd edition of All-Odisha Nalco Open commenced at Kalinga Stadium Tennis Centre here on Friday.
The three-day meet, organised by Bhubaneswar District Tennis Association (BDTA), returns to action after three years.
The tournament has attracted a record 400 entries, indicating its popularity among tennis enthusiasts here.
A total prize pool of Rs 4.32 lakh will be up for grabs.
Competition will be held in the following categories:
Boys’ U-14 Singles, Girls’ U-14 Singles, Boys’ U-18 Singles, Men’s Open Singles, Women’s Open Singles, Men’s Open Doubles, Men’s Veterans 40+ Doubles, Men’s Veterans 50+ Doubles and Men’s Veterans 60+ Doubles.
Odisha’s minister for Sports & Youth Services Tusharkanti Behera was chief guest at the opening ceremony, while the state government’s Commissioner-Cum-Secretary Vineel Krishna was special guest. Also present were OMC Ltd MD Balwant Singh, NALCO Director (Finance) Ramesh Chandra Joshi, Odisha CM’s Advisor and BDTA president Suresh Chandra Mohapatra and BDTA secretary Saswat Mishra.
