Tokyo: It was a watershed moment for India in the High jump (T63) event as Mariyappan Thangavelu and Sharad Kumar won the silver and bronze medal, respectively, in the final of the event at the ongoing Tokyo Paralympics.
While Sharad finished third with his season-best effort of 1.83m, Thangavelu grabbed second place on the podium with his best effort of 1.86m. This was Thangavelu’s season-best performance.
Their compatriot Varun Bhati, who has a personal best of 1.86m, finished seventh with his best jump of 1.77m.
