Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s para athletes returned home after an outstanding performance in the 5th Indian Open Para Athletics International Championship in Bengaluru.
In a first, 4 Odisha para athletes, who were part of the Indian team, bagged a total of 8 medals in an international meet, according to Paralympic Odisha. The medal haul included 5 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze.
Three of the 5 gold medals were earned by Jayanti Behera, who finished first in 100m, 200m and 40mm races.
Swarup Nandan Behera, OSD, Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, received the athletes at Biju Patnaik International Airport.
