Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Wednesday issued an advisory to collectors in view of heavy to very heavy rainfall predictions till August 24.
The collectors of the districts under red, orange and yellow warnings have been advised to remain prepared to meet any waterlogging, localised flood-like situation in urban area and landslides due to flash floods in hilly areas.
The regional centre of India Meteorological Department had earlier issued flash flood and landslide warning for the state, which has been witnessing heavy rainfall due to the low-pressure area over north-west Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood.
The Met office had warned about waterlogging and flash floods at some places, damage to kutcha roads and kutcha houses, and landslides in hilly areas under the impact of the heavy downpour.
Local Cautionary Signal No. 3 has been hoisted at all ports of Odisha.
The IMD has also informed about likely formation of a fresh low-pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood around August 23.
