Malkangiri: In yet another instance of Red terror, Maoists killed a man suspecting him to be an informer of police on Odisha-Chhattisgarh border late on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Sarpanch of Badasiti area of Malkangiri district.
According to available information, a group of armed ultras stormed into the victim’s house when he was sleeping. They dragged the person outside and murdered him by slitting his throat.
According to locals, the Sarpanch was killed over suspicion of being an informer of police. They alleged that the Maoists had earlier warned some of the local residents of dire consequences, if they pass information regarding their activities to the police.
Police have seized the body and launched a search operation in the area.
