Bhubaneswar: Very heavy thunderstorm couples with lightning, rain and high-velocity winds is likely to hit five districts of Odisha on Thursday night, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in a nowcast warning.
Capital city Bhubaneswar and neighbouring Cuttack are also expected to be affected by severe thunderstorm.

eather agency issued a red warning for Khurda (including Bhubaneswar city), Cuttack (including Cuttack city), Nayagarh, Jagatsinghpur, and Puri districts.
According to the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, wind speed is likely to reach 70-80 kmph, gusting up to 90 kmph, in parts of Khurda district, including Bhubaneswar city, and Cuttack district, including Cuttack city.
People have been advised to closely monitor weather conditions and remain prepared to move to safer places in the event of worsening weather.
The weather office urged people to avoid open spaces, stay indoors during lightning activity, and take necessary precautions against strong winds and possible damage to trees, electric poles, and temporary structures.
